About Us

On February 8, 2006 our daughter, Jenna Susana Westerholm, was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. Sarcomas are cancers of the body tissues and of the bone. It is considered an orphan cancer because sarcoma is rare (1% of adults and 15% of children are diagnosed) and receives little attention or funding for research. The five-year survival rate is only 51%.

During Jenna’s three years of treatment, Chris missed many days of work, our income was greatly reduced, and we had a new baby. We personally felt the financial and emotional strain caused by having a child with cancer.

Jenna did not survive cancer. In her memory we founded The Dragon’s Last Ride, a motorcycle ride that raises money to support children and families who are undergoing cancer treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The Northwest Sarcoma Foundation disperses the funds we raise to the families in need of financial assistance in Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.

Our family was blessed with getting to know and love Jenna. We will never forget her or witnessing what cancer did to her. We pray daily for all families facing the possible loss of a child.
We are so honored to know people like you who are willing to keep fighting this disease for others.

Got to ride with the masses this weekend; a wonderful show of support from what apparently were a bunch of complete strangers in most cases. Was a ton of fun for a good cause; already looking forward to inviting more of my fellow riders AND participating in next years ride.

Thanks for the kick in the…:-)

This ride was just brought to my attention via the Triumph Thunderbird annual flocking – I’m there in 2016. So sorry you had to endure this and in awe of your resilience in organizing support for families living through the same tragic experience.
